Airlink advises customers that flights this afternoon and evening are delayed due to air traffic control constraints at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport. The disruptions are caused by ATNS staffing shortages and the suspension or expiry of certain instrument flight procedures. These issues have led to departure delays, airspace restrictions, and some flight diversions, impacting the overall schedule. Airlink is working to recover operations and minimise delays. Updates will be shared via Airlink’s app, social media, and airport information screens.

What is NDC?
New Distribution Capability (NDC) is an IATA-defined standard specifically designed for the aviation industry for the development and market adoption of a new XML-based communication standard, which enhances the interaction directly between airlines and Trade partners.
The Benefits of NDC:
NDC replaces the outdated EDIFACT protocol that was designed and created in the 1980s with a more modern XML standard, which enhances Airlink’s ability to share all of its content with Trade Partners.
This content will be presented in a rich format, which facilitates vastly improved shopping, booking, and upsell opportunities for Agents. Agents will be able to provide personalised offers to their customers should they wish to do so. This will include fares, discounts, and ancillary service combinations that can be tailored according to the agent’s and their customers’ requirements.
Additionally, IATA NDC enables the delivery of richer content, such as high-resolution images, detailed destination guides, and immersive videos, enhancing the booking experience.
Access to Airlink NDC Content:
Airlink has implemented IATA standard NDC which offers full servicing capabilities to agents. We have completed the development and implementation of NDC with various aggregators, including an option to connect via NDC API and a partner portal for ease of access.
The links below can be used to facilitate any of the above-mentioned access to Airlink NDC content for IATA accredited travel agencies only:
