3 July 2026 - SATMS Launch Effective 1 July 2026
  • As part of South Africa’s digital transformation and border modernisation efforts, the South African Traveller Management System (SATMS) will become a mandatory electronic declaration system from 1 July 2026. Following a successful pilot phase, SATMS replaces manual paper traveller declaration cards with a streamlined digital pre-arrival declaration process across all international airports, land borders, seaports, and rail ports.

29 June 2026 - Advise to Customers to Plan for Possible Traffic and Flight Disruptions on Tuesday, 30 June 2026
  • Monday, 29 June 2026, Johannesburg – In light of marches and other potential disruptions to road traffic in various parts of South Africa tomorrow, Airlink recommends customers allow for additional travel time when commuting to airports.


    Airlink has contingencies in place and will work closely with all relevant stakeholders to minimise the impact of any disruptions on its flights and airport-based operations.


    If necessary, Airlink will communicate directly with any affected travellers on operational changes.


    In summary, customers travelling tomorrow should:

    • allow for additional travelling time to and from airports across the country.
    • anticipate longer-than-usual processing times at airports.
    • monitor Airlink’s notifications sent via WhatsApp and posted on its app, website, and official social media channels for any schedule, boarding gate or other updates.

5 June 2026 - Uganda and Congo Travel Advisory
  • Notice on Heightened Screening at all Points of Entry Following Ebola Outbreak in the DRC and Uganda


    In response to the recent Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreaks reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, the Ministry of Health wishes to inform the public, travelers, and all stakeholders, that Botswana has intensified screening protocols at all Points of Entry (PoEs), including airports and land borders.This precautionary measure is being implemented to protect the health and safety of all citizens and residents of Botswana, as well as to prevent the importation of the virus. The intervention will also help ensure early detection and containment of any potential cases.


    Key measures that are now in effect include the following


    1. Health Screening: All incoming travelers will undergo temperature checks and symptom screening for Ebola-related signs (fever, headache, muscle pain, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and unexplained bleeding) at all PoEs.

    2. Travel History Questionnaires: Travelers will be required to provide details of their recent travel history, particularly if they have visited the DRC, Uganda, or any other Ebola-affected area within the past 21 days.

    3. Isolation and Referral: Any traveler presenting symptoms consistent with EVD or reporting high-risk contact will be immediately isolated and transported to designated health facilities for further assessment, testing, and management.

    4. Health Declaration Forms:All passengers arriving via air travel will be required to complete and submit health declaration forms before disembarkation.


    Further, the Ministry strongly advises the public to:


    Avoid non-essential travel to Ebola-affected regions (DRC, Uganda).

    Practice strict hygiene: Wash hands frequently with soap and clean water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

    Avoid contactwith individuals showing signs of illness, especially fever, vomiting, or bleeding.

    Report any suspicious illnessimmediately to the nearest health facility or call the Ministry's toll-free hotline: 16649


    All travelers entering Botswana are required to cooperate fully with health officials at PoEs. Failure to comply may result in denial of entry, quarantine, or legal action as provided for under the Public Health Act.

25 May 2026 – Zanzibar Travel Advisory
  • Customers travelling to Zanzibar, Tanzania, are advised to take note of a Travel Advisory issued by the Zanzibar Ministry of Health, effective from 21 May 2026. This follows the recent Ebola virus outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda and applies at all ports of entry, including airports and seaports.
  • In line with this advisory, the following mandatory measures will apply:

    Key Requirements:

    - Passengers must complete the mandatory online health form prior to departure: https://healthtravelznz.mohz.go.tz/traveller/
    - On arrival, passengers are required to complete a Traveller Surveillance Form (TSF) at immigration to support contact tracing efforts.
    - Airport staff will receive training on Ebola awareness, including transmission, symptoms, and preventive measures.
    - Hand sanitiser will be available at key passenger touchpoints, including check-in counters, lounges, boarding gates, and arrivals areas.
    - Frontline staff in direct contact with passengers will be equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks.
