What began in 2006 as a small coffee shop at the Customs Building at OR Tambo International Airport with only five staff members has grown into South Africa’s only BEE-compliant in-flight catering company. Founded with a vision to create meaningful impact through employment, empowerment, and quality service, Siyathemba combined experience in restaurant and VIP catering to introduce a more premium airline dining experience to the market.
The partnership with Airlink marked a turning point in the company’s journey. Beginning with only 15–25 Business Class meals per day, the relationship quickly evolved as demand increased and additional catering opportunities emerged.
A major milestone followed when Airports Company South Africa requested Siyathemba to manage the airside canteen facilities at OR Tambo International Airport, paving the way for further expansion and long-term growth. Today, Siyathemba has grown into a medium-sized enterprise employing more than 100 staff members while continuing to diversify across the aviation and corporate catering industries.
