Service Disruption Notice: Flight Delays

Airlink advises customers that flights this afternoon and evening are delayed due to air traffic control constraints at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport. The disruptions are caused by ATNS staffing shortages and the suspension or expiry of certain instrument flight procedures. These issues have led to departure delays, airspace restrictions, and some flight diversions, impacting the overall schedule. Airlink is working to recover operations and minimise delays. Updates will be shared via Airlink’s app, social media, and airport information screens.

Which airports can I charter to?
Although there are multiple airports across Southern Africa that can be utilised, not all are suitable for every aircraft type or passenger load. The destinations must comply with all relevant safety, security and operational requirements and we must be able to provide suitable ground support for the charter operation. We do not however charter any of our aircraft into unsurfaced airfields.
What aircraft do you offer?
For charter purposes, we presently offer the following:

  • 12 seater Cessna Grand Caravan
  • 29 seater Jetstream 4100 turbo prop
  • 44 seater Embraer ERJ-140
  • 98 seater Embraer E-JET 190
How far in advance do I need to book?
It is best not to leave charter arrangements for the last minute. Securing aircraft, crew, airport slots, permissions and a veritable host of other ancillary services required for such operations can take time to plan and procure.
Are Airlink charter flights safe?
The aircraft and crew used for charter are the same aircraft and crew that operate on our scheduled services, and are thus held to the same stringent maintenance and training standards laid down by both local and international authorities such as the SACAA, IATA and ICAO.
