Spreading our wings to Nairobi
We are spreading our wings with a new daily Johannesburg-Nairobi service, which will see it become the first private sector airline to offer flights on the route from 24 April 2023. We will provide much-needed competition and additional choices for business and leisure travellers. Kenya becomes the 15th country in Airlink’s comprehensive sub-Saharan route network and its third in East Africa. The service will be operated with Airlink’s comfortable and efficient state-of-the-art 98-seat Embraer E190 jetliners.
Flights to Madagascar Resume
The resumption of flights linking Johannesburg with Antananarivo follows the lifting of Madagascar’s COVID-19 travel restrictions and its subsequent ban on air services to and from South Africa.

Each passenger booked on an Airlink flight is entitled to a free baggage allowance of 20 kg in *Economy Class and 30 kg in Business Class. Infants are permitted 10kg each, regardless of class of travel. For more information relating to the allocated baggage allowance on Airlink flights, please visit the following link: Checked Baggage.
* Airlink permits a free baggage allowance of 30kg in Economy class and 40kg in Business class on the following routings only: Between South Africa and Ndola, Lusaka, Bulawayo, Luanda and Between South Africa and Harare excluding the direct flights between Durban and Harare.
Yes, each passenger may carry without additional charges hand baggage suitable for placement in the closed overhead rack or under the passenger`s seat.
Maximum dimensions for one piece are (H) 56cm + (W) 36 cm + (L) 23cm and maximum weight 8kg. The size of one carry on item shall not exceed the overall dimensions of 115cm.
The standard allowance per class for domestic and international/regional flights is:
Business Class: 2 Pieces plus 1 slimline laptop bag
Economy Class: 1 Piece plus 1 slimline laptop bag
Handbags are considered as part of a female’s wardrobe and not as hand baggage.
Airlink Domestic flights within South Africa: For Checked Baggage, Sporting Equipment and Domestic Pets the charge is ZAR33.00 per kilogram plus 15% VAT.

All excess baggage purchases are non-refundable regardless of whether the excess baggage charges have been utilized or not.
Airlink may refuse to carry as baggage:
Any item reasonably considered to be prohibited or unsuitable for carriage because of its size, shape, weight, content, character, for safety or operational reasons, the comfort of other passengers or which are fragile or perishable having regard to, amongst other things, the type of aircraft being used. Information about unacceptable items is available from us or our authorized agents upon request.
Items of which the carriage is prohibited by the applicable laws, regulations or orders of any state to be flown from or to. Airlink may refuse the acceptance of baggage for carriage unless it is in reasonable condition as well as properly and securely packed in suitable containers.
