February 2011
With the refurbishment of the Pietermaritzburg Airport runway rapidly reaching completion, Airlink is pleased to announce that it is now able to implement its flight schedule featuring double daily jet flights and attractive fares.
It has always been Airlink's objective to continuously improve service delivery and convenience for our passengers, and the community of Pietermaritzburg.
From Monday 28 February 2011, the new early morning jet flight will depart JNB at 06h00 arriving in PZB at 07h00 with the return flight departing PZB at 07h30 arriving JNB at 08h30. The afternoon jet flight departs JNB again at 17h00 arriving PZB Airport at 18h00 and returns from PZB at 18h30 arriving JNB at 19h30.
Airlink's early morning and late afternoon flights on comfortable jet aircraft are ideal for the business traveller, providing businessmen with convenient access to PZB Airport, gateway to the Midlands and KwaZulu-Natal,
Airlink will operate two additional return flights during the course of the day, a mid morning return flight and a mid afternoon return flight to cater for inbound and outbound connecting passengers travelling onwards from JNB to other African and International destinations, in conjunction with our alliance partner SAA and its Star Alliance partner airlines worldwide.
The use of a modern highly efficient AVRO RJ 83 seat quad-jet aircraft has allowed Airlink to offer competitive fares starting from R450.00 (four hundred and fifty rand) one way all inclusive. Terms and conditions will obviously apply in line with normal airline practice.
The significant investment by the Msunduzi Municipality and Airlink in the implementation of enhanced runway lighting and the development of the global navigational satellite system (GNSS) approach procedure has allowed appreciably improved operational reliability. Comparing the number of weather related diversions, 25 in the 7 month period July2009 – February 2010 as against the 5 in the past 7 months July 2010 - February 2011, demonstrates just how effectively this has been achieved, as a result of the advanced technology.
Where previously some 4% of Airlink’s Pietermaritzburg flights were diverted due to weather, in the most recent comparative period only 0.6% of our flights were diverted. This represents an 85% improvement. So whereas passengers were historically justifiably concerned about the possible disruption of their schedules, they can confidently choose to use Pietermaritzburg in the comfort that scheduled air services at Pietermaritzburg are now more reliable than ever.
Travellers wanting to do business in Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands therefore no longer have to fly and drive further than necessary. Airlink to Pietermaritzburg is convenient, comfortable, reliable and affordable!
