airlink assesses demand of daily flights between

november 2007

Airlink has taken the decision to withdraw its daily operations on the George - Johannesburg route from mid-January 2008.

“The route is quite challenging to make sense of. Air fares are constantly under pressure as a result of capacity supply and demand imbalance. Operational costs are spiraling. While passenger volumes are good and support for the services continues, the route has the idiosyncrasy of directional flow bias and thus is not able to achieve the very high average load factors required as a result of the ultra-low yields."

Airlink will re-deploy its capacity on other routes where there is increasing demand for its services. Routes that stand to benefit will be Airlink’s 5 daily services between Cape Town and George as well as Cape Town and Nelspruit-Kruger-Mpumalanga

Passengers already booked with Airlink after the middle of January 2008 will be accommodated on SA Express.

Airlink would to thank their George passengers for their loyal support and looks forward to providing them with expanded services on its other routes in and out of George.

Airlink currently operates
• up to 5 return flights per day between George and Cape Town
• one daily return flight between George and Durban
• one return flight a week between Bloemfontein and George
